Highest-quality Polypropylene

GS Caltex began producing polypropylene (PP) in 1988. With steady facility expansion, we have secured capacity to produce 180,000 tons annually. Propylene (feedstock) is also produced in-house, leading to enhanced cost and quality competitiveness. Through ongoing R&D, we are working to develop and commercialize high performance materials. Our R&D efforts are contributing to industry-wide technological advancement.

New entry into the polyethylene market

GS Caltex produces 500,000 tons of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) annually by adopting CPChem's latest technology, the ADL process. GS Caltex's polyethylene has successfully entered new markets by maximizing synergy with the existing polypropylene business based on cost competitiveness through its own production of ethylene (feedstock), and is sold worldwide.

Low-Carbon Mechanically Recycled PP Compound

GS Caltex has produced low-carbon mechanically recycled (MR) PP compounds since 2010 in support of net-zero goals and remains the only refinery in Korea to do so. In 2022, we began partnering with domestic and international mechanical recycling companies across the automotive, electronics, and consumer goods sectors to secure a stable supply of MR sources. These efforts enable us to produce and offer high-quality materials comparable to virgin PP.

In 2025, we became the first company in Asia to earn RecyClass certification for the entire value chain of plastics derived from end-of-life vehicles.
