Since its establishment in 1986, the GS Caltex R&D Center has been developing core technologies across a range of fields to strengthen our competitiveness and identify new growth opportunities.
The R&D Center also focuses on enhancing the performance of existing businesses, including petroleum, petrochemicals, and polymers, by creating high-value-added products and improving production efficiency. Additionally, it provides company-wide analytical services to support stable operations.
To reinforce the MFC business for olefin production, the R&D Center is actively advancing key technologies in catalyst synthesis, polymerization, and polymer processing.
Continued investment in bio-research alongside existing business areas has enabled the development of core technologies across diverse fields.
Going forward, the GS Caltex R&D Center will continue to pursue sustainable growth through differentiated technologies and product development.

GS Caltex has continuously invested in bio-based chemicals to identify the company's future growth engines. As a result, we have successfully secured core technologies for bio-based chemical production, including microbial strains, fermentation, and purification.
Bio-based chemicals developmentWe are focused on commercializing high-value bio-based materials in areas where we can leverage our existing technologies and capabilities, as well as in fields that complement our existing businesses.
We are also actively developing a diverse range of bio-based materials, including organic acids, carotenoids, and eco-friendly pigments, to meet market demand for low-carbon materials. Going forward, we will continue to combine our biotechnology and chemical synthesis technologies to develop innovative products and capabilities.
